I’ve been practicing and strumming the past four days and this is what I came up with. It’s very rough and my technique is very amateurish, of course, but it’s already setting a mood which I am very comfortable with. Maybe I switch completely to jazz music for a while? If you guess and tell me on which song the chords in the background are based on, you’ll get a little surprise — provided you tell it to me personally. Let the competition begin!
The picture to the right is just a visual help for you to get in the right mood for this tune. texx sound - Green Grass. 2008.
I haven’t felt the urge to get creative with music since I scored my dear fellow student Zoki’s short movie Sacred Tree which was a lot of work and great fun. Yesterday, however, I was invited by another dear fellow student, Jot a.k.a. Supernintendo Chalmers, to bring my guitar for a jam session. But, no, I won’t post any of my crappy ad-libs.
I have been quite productive during the holidays but still wasn’t able to finish the last part of the Zodiac Font Family. But about a month ago I finished Contact for the DS. Especially some tunes of the music still linger in the back of my head but back then I wanted to make something in the style of the Battle music of a Japanese RPG. And before that I was layouting a couple of tunes for Jonny1 Hennebichler’s computer game concept Skyscrapers, a mix between Bridge Builder, SimTower and a little Hotel Giant. Although it’s never going to be made I think the tunes came off quite nicely. And because today’s my birthday I want them to be your present too.
I finally feel ready to blog some new audio piece by me and my alternate personality, texx sound who pushes me to produce music now and then. And sometimes, like last week, he comes from the depths of my subconscious he steps down into my ego, takes it over and won’t let me go to sleep until I finally make another musical piece that he’s satisfied with. So here it is, finished around 5:30am after an 19 hrs day and with 3 hours of sleep to come.
My recent submission Lord of the Rats (listen below) for OverClocked Remix was rejected, I’ve worked on it for about five weeks. But I just sensed the rejection coming on the horizon but didn’t dare to look.
