I needed to reward myself and soothe my jangled nerves from all the stress I had. So I purchased S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Clear Sky in advance. And today was the great day to set it up and stalk through the Zone once again. Oh, I love radiation!
EDIT: See below for some new insights about the critical start-up bug. Why me?!
A premiere here on the Promenade Blog: my first video post! And it’s a rant about the new Alone in the Dark by Eden Games. So if you can stand my voice and my thick accent when talking English then feel free to click the play button. If you prefer to read and click some links: No problemo, what is said can be read here as well. A weekend well spent…
Enjoy!
DISCLAIMER: No, I don’t hate the game, in fact it’s quite entertaining. But I needed to vent my anger that I am unable to handle the game controls well. And I die a lot!
Somehow I’ve all made it through many hours of very interesting presentations — still my spirits weakened: Four hours of sleep a day just isn’t enough for conventions like the FMX where one should be as sharply focused as a Pong-player in order not to miss anything: Today it was everything about games mostly.
Ever played Audiosurf? That addictive little fucker! I’ve downloaded the demo because I was a little bit curious as I always am when there’s some hype ebbing away and I feel “underground” enough to give it a try myself. But what is Audiosurf anyway? It creates from a song of your choice a unique race track resembling the tempo, intensity and dynamic of that song. Nothing really new. But the community connection via Steam evokes some Trackmania United atmosphere: If there’s somebody who’s played the same song as you then the game automatically compares your scores and performance. As a competitive grunting male I am prone to scoreboards… If you already know what it is about please refer to the last paragraphs — there’s a challenge for you…
Busy me! Especially until Sunday afternoon where a crapload of work, pardon my bluntness, need to be done in order to pursue a quiet and contemplative Christmas. But at least yesterday I had the opportunity to sneak away for half an hour and came back with a wonderful Christmas tree.
Call me flip-floppy but today I like Steam better than the day before. Because it works again and likes to display my custom models. Like the one out of three airplanes I modeled for S&P Simulations some months ago.
I love Valve’s Steam network. No wait — I hate it! I feel like ranting: The last three hours I was working hard to get a Maya model exported, textured and imported into the game. And figuring out how the exporter handles textures was nearly half the deal.
Actually I set up these records back in August but since late October they are verified by the referees and are now official: I am the world’s best Dr. Mario player (Super Nintendo version) and world’s number 4 in Tetris (GameBoy) as can be inspected here at Twin Galaxies.
I don’t know what came over me today. Probably it was the excitement mixed with a good deal of fear when I learned about our external teacher Adam Donovan’s assessment requirements for our course “3D industry” which is nothing more than getting familiar with the complex Source Engine.
